Stopped into Ima while in Detroit for a work trip and really enjoyed it! It’s also a really great spot for solo dining if you’re exploring the city or traveling for work. I started with the pickled appetizer plate, which was a great light starter with lots of flavor, then ordered the spicy Tori chicken ramen. The broth had a really nice kick without being overwhelming, and the chicken was super tender. Definitely a cozy, satisfying stop after a long day. Would absolutely come back next time I’m in Detroit!

Food was fantastic! Great flavor. Easy paid parking. No wait to be seated. Food took a bit longer than expected but our waitress was on it! She over compensated our wait. We will absolutely return.

Great restaurant right across the street from Wayne State University. I ordered the Karage chicken rice bowl. It was delicious and unique with the pickled ginger, seaweed and scallions. Very fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable and the aesthetics of the place were also nice.

Update: They have shrunk portion size significantly! The portion size has become almost half of what it used to be. I have added the "new" smaller portion size photo as well. So disappointing! We used to love their food. Went there on a Friday night. Looooved the vibe and atmosphere! The Karaage chicken was finger licking good, it’s a must try.. I tried their Schezuan noodles before, it’s really good if you are not afraid of spices. The Curry yaki udon and Boombap was great too. Tokyo street fries really good.. The service was great as well. Great for a date night or celebration!

July 2026:beef pho always hit the spot. Miso cucumbers to start and refreshing hot tea. Guys you are the best in town. Keep going Oct 2025 update: I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been here. It’s simply a great place with great food. This time I tried dessert β€” no disappointment. The beef pho is amazing; I still catch myself craving that flavor. The ramen and noodles are excellent tooβ€”I can honestly recommend every section of the menu. Also try the local pop and the mocktails, trust, you won’t be disappointed. Tea is also good. Aug 2025: The atmosphere and food here make it worth returning downtown every time. Service can be inconsistent, but I appreciate the unique style of the place and the friendliness of some of the wait staff.
